My Topshop Lipstick picks

Usually when fashion brands bring out their own make up range, it tends to be a bit crap. I never usually buy into it, but I must admit, Topshop is the beacon of light for high street make up. They have a selection of cult products that bloggers have been raving about for years. With their monochrome packaging and reasonable pricing they are a firm favourite for those of us without a designer make up budget. As I have said before, lip products are my absolute favourite. Nothing changes your look more than your lips and I like to have a rainbow of colours at my disposal.

Topshop lipsticks are gorgeous. Their matte finish is everything I could ever ask for and they only cost £8! I’ve started a little collection over the last year and I’ve developed a bit of a habit of buying a new one every time I go in. I have quite a few but these are my top shades. The only drawback I would say is that they are not true to colour in the packaging. Get swatching before you buy unless you are happy to roll the dice. In most cases I have preferred the swipe shade to how it looks on the product but almost all of them are different to their packaging shade.

Saint

This is probably too pale for most skin types but I’m a dead ringer for Ghost Face from Scream so it’s a pretty colour for me. I would recommend this to any other pasty Casper types like me as it’s a subtle but pretty effect when applied. You can see on the swatch it barely shows up but it's pastel shade shows up much better on the lips. I also know Becca Rose is a big advocate for this shade and who wouldn’t want to have something in common with that lovely face?

Macaroon

This is great for spring for a pink pout to match with all of those floral outfits. It’s a bright pink but not too loud and still happily a daytime shade. This was one of my first purchases. Macaroon never sees to last very long compared to the others but maybe I just do more kissing in the spring…

Daisy

A pinky-orange hybrid blend for daytime orange lips. Again this is a great spring shade and has a brightening effect on any make up look. This has been the best in terms of consistency, it applies very smoothly and isn't patchy at all. It is one of those lipsticks that is a bit different but I can still wear it to work.

Infrared

Yes to all of the orange. Dark hair + pale skin + orange lipstick = my best face. Orange toned shades look the best on me and I love a statement lip. This colour is not for the faint hearted and you should maybe expect a lot of ‘You’ve been tango’ed’ jokes if this is your pick. If you are into this kind of shade I would highly recommend. It's also a dead ringer for a YSL shade I have and is obviously much cheaper!

Drive

This is a shade like nothing I’ve ever had before. It’s a pink toned purple colour that is sparkly when applied. It's very strange, almost like a matte consistency with glitter bits mixed in. Whatever it is, I am a fan. I’ve had this one for a couple of years and sometimes it feels quite grainy with all of the glitter but I can't fault it in any other way. It really makes a statement and pulls the attention to the lips.

Wicked

Hello my Autumn lover. Dark berry lips are a gift from the make up gods and this will always be my first pick as soon as the leaves start falling. It's not the easiest colour to apply and you do have to be very precise, so I would recommend finding a similar shaded lip liner to start with. This is the perfect shade to wear whilst sipping on pumpkin spice latte's in Starbucks.

Hazard

Red lips are my favourite and until my recent Mac purchase, Hazard was my go to date night colour. This is a very bright red, much more of a Summer red in my opinion. Matte red shades are the best and there is a great range is Topshop. Trigger is a darker red that I would also recommend if that's your thing, but this bright shade is still very highly ranked in my lip library.

So those are my top Topshop picks. For only £8 they are honestly one of my favourite lip brands and I'm always popping them in my handbag. Do you have any? What are your favourite shades?
